Activities
Below is a list of activities that you can participate in here at Trinity Lutheran Church. Choose a new activity group on the right side of the page. Fellowship L.S.F. (Leadership, Service, Fellowship) Purpose: To promote leadership, service and fellowship by the women of the congregation. To promote and stimulate the interest of women in the work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. To promote and develop an active interest in community service projects. Meetings: Fourth Monday in January, April, and September. Second Monday in December at Holy Trinity at 10:00 a.m. Contact: Linda Vowles Linda Vowles Altar Guild Purpose: To provide suitable furnishings and decorations for the nave, chancel and altar and to take due and reverent care of its appointments. To prepare for the administration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. To deliver altar flowers to members of HolyTrinity who are hospitalized or who are shut-ins. Meetings: Third Friday of each month at Holy Trinity; members bring a brown bag lunch, and different members take turns providing a dessert; a program or meeting follows the casual lunch. Elizabeth Liska Either Side of 40 Gang Meets for fellowship on the fourth Saturday of the month at 7:00 PM. The group coordinator is Art McRowe (330-666-3189); e-mail information from Art. Art McRowe Greeters Adults and families welcome members and visitors to worship services. Greeters serve two weeks at a time to be able to identify and help visitors. Evelyn Burkins Holy Trinity Book Club The newly formed Holy Trinity Book Club will be meeting once a month to discuss a book chosen by the group members. The group meets in Room 202 after the 11:00 service, on usually the second or third Sunday of the month. Members bring a brown bag lunch to eat during their discussion, which is led by Amy Indorf and Diane Chambers. All men and women of Holy Trinity are welcome to join in the fellowship and lively dialogue. Amy Indorf Diane Chambers Home Bible Study Group This Bible Study is for adults and uses a study guide purchased by the members. It is led by various members of the group and meets at the homes of the members. After one hour of Bible Study the group shares a light supper supplied by the host. Meetings are at 4:00 p.m., on the fourth Sunday of the month. Linda Vowles LUMA (Lutheran Urban Ministries of Akron) LUMA (Lutheran Urban Ministries of Akron) is a group of representatives from three downtown Lutheran churches-- Holy Trinity, Bethany and St. John/St. Paul. Representatives meet monthly to plan cooperative worship and fellowship events among the three churches. Some of the events are supper/worship services during Advent and Lent, a community brunch/ worship service in Grace Park, and Lutherfest (an outdoor Oktoberfest event). Events are always publicized in the bulletins and church news magazines. Phyllis Martin Joan Kull Lutheran Lazy Loafers Men of the congregation who meet for lunch and fellowship while their Altar Guild wives are meeting on the 3rd Friday of the month September through May. Men's Breakfast and Bible Study Beginning on Saturday, February 27th, 2010 starting at 8:00 a.m. until Saturday March 27th we will have a men’s Lenten Bible study and breakfast here at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Vicar Jack will provide the first breakfast. The study will be looking at Lenten readings from the ELCA lectionary lead by yours truly, Vicar Jack. Everyone will also have an opportunity to provide a meal for all those who attend. Keep an eye out for sign up sheets. I look forward to seeing you there. Jack Ruth Men's Softball Team Summer league play as scheduled. Craig Marko Trinitarians Adults gather for Christian fellowship and programs. Meeting: September - June, fourth Friday 7:30 P.M. in the Chapel Lounge unless otherwise noted. Velma Pomrenke Trinity Time Tithers (TTT's) Trinity Time Tithers gather on Wednesday mornings to volunteer their services where needed in the church. Fellowship continues at lunch. Trinity's Gardening Angels A group of men and women who enjoy sharing their knowledge of annuals and perennials and their love of gardening. They plant and maintain the entrance garden, and the flagpole garden in Grace Park in conjunction with the Keep Akron Beautiful program. Susan Detwiler Women's Bible Study Meets on the third Saturday of the month in the member's homes. Members enjoy brunch at 9:00 AM and then discussion follows at 10:00 AM. The women are currently involved in a study of the book of Romans from "Lutheran Women" magazine. For information call Sylvia Leddon at 330-699-9876. Sylvia Leddon Women's Lenten Retreat Women of all ages are invited to the Women's Lenten Retreat on Saturday, March 6th from 9 to noon. The theme for the morning is "the cups of our life"; bring your favorite mug or cup with you. A soup lunch will be served at the end of the morning. Tickets available at the door-$4 Eileen Woyen Youth Ministry The Youth Ministry consists of two sections, the 7th-8th Graders (Confirmation age students) and 9th-12th Graders (High School Youth). Confirmation students meet weekly on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 a.m. for Confirmation class. The High School youth also meet weekly at 9:45 a.m. for High School Sunday school class. The Youth also participate in service activities at Holy Trinity such as Interfaith Hospitality Network, St. Bernard’s food kitchen, and gardening around Holy Trinity. Finally, the youth gather for social events such as lock-ins, movies and holiday parties. If you or someone you know may be interested in participating in any of the youth activities at Holy Trinity please do not hesitate to call the church or talk to Pastor Eileen on Sunday mornings.
