Below is a list of activities that you can participate in here at Trinity Lutheran Church. Choose a new activity group on the right side of the page.
Service Activities
L.S.F. (Leadership, Service, Fellowship)
Purpose: To promote leadership, service and fellowship by the women of the congregation.
To promote and stimulate the interest of women in the work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
To promote and develop an active interest in community service projects.
Meetings: Fourth Monday in January, April, and September. Second Monday in December at Holy Trinity at 10:00 a.m.

Acolytes
Boys and girls 5th through 12th grades and interested adults assist at Sunday services and festival worship services: light candles, distribute offering plates and assist with communion.

Altar Guild
Purpose: To provide suitable furnishings and decorations for the nave, chancel and altar and to take due and reverent care of its appointments.
To prepare for the administration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
To deliver altar flowers to members of HolyTrinity who are hospitalized or who are shut-ins.
Meetings: Third Friday of each month at Holy Trinity; members bring a brown bag lunch, and different members take turns providing a dessert; a program or meeting follows the casual lunch.

Archives
Records of all parish reports, Council minutes, congregational meeting minutes, bulletins and publications, blue prints, plans, photographs and plaques, scrap books of various organizations, Bibles, hymnals, books, relics, news articles and other documents are filed numerically (Accession numbers) to various cabinets, cupboards or steel file drawers in the storage rooms. Information to locate any particular item is found in two notebooks: one with subjects in alphabetical order and the other in numerical or accession order.

Bereavement Meals
This is a ministry that provides support to families in grief at the death of a loved one, bringing comfort to bereaved family and friends. At the family's request a meal is provided following a funeral or memorial service.

Budget Committee
The Budget Committee, working with the teams (Care, Equip, Finance, Outreach, Personnel, Property, Welcome and Worship) establishes the budget for the next fiscal year which is then approved by the Congregation Council and the Congregation.

Cabinet
The Cabinet consists of the Director of Gift-Based Ministries and the coordinators of the eight teams that carry out the work of the church. The Cabinet meets bi monthly to coordinate the activities of the church, create liaison with the staff and pursue Vision goals.

Children's Music
Weekly music activity for children includes singing, musical games and playing rhythm instruments.
SHOUT! - Grades 1 - 4 meets Sunday mornings at 9:45 am and sings in church once a month.
CHIME CHOIR - Grades 5 and 6 - meets Sunday mornings at 9:45 am and rings in church throughout the year.

A group of church members analyzes the needs of the church office in order to recommend the most efficient and up to date equipment to expedite the work in the office.

Congregation Council
The Congregation Council consists of eight persons elected by the congregation. The treasurer may be a ninth (non-voting) member. Some of the major responsibilities are: establishing core values and vision documents for the congregation; oversight of strategies to accomplish that vision; managing financial affairs of the congregation; overseeing personnel matters and generally managing the affairs of the congregation.

Fine Arts Committee
Maintains the integrity of the architectural, landscaping, art work, lighting and the design and furnishings of the interior and exterior of the church building, while addressing the continuing beautification of the church property.

Greeters
Adults and families welcome members and visitors to worship services. Greeters serve two weeks at a time to be able to identify and help visitors.

Hot Meals Program
In conjunction with St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, members and friends of Holy Trinity bake cookies, cook and serve meals for the needy of the community.

Interfaith Hospitality Network
Shortly, Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) will become known as Family Promise. Family Promise has been around a long time, with IHN and Just Neighbors programs operating under it. Nothing else will change, just the name. Holy Trinity will continue to provide hospitality and support to our neighbors with other churches in our community through this organization.
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Summit County (IHN) is a community of faith caring for homeless families. They provide shelter, meals and assistance in a search for jobs and housing. During the day families receive counseling at the Family Center at 77 W. Miller Avenue, and in the evening they are sheltered for one week at a time in various host churches who are in the IHN program. Volunteers from our church prepare meals and eat with our guests; they provide transportation in the IHN van; they visit with the families in the evening and stay overnight. They also prepare bedrooms with fresh linens and towels to make our guest comfortable during their stay with us. Volunteers are always welcome.

Available to members and friends during church business hours and every Sunday. Adults and children may sign out books and leave cards in the designated box. Return books within two weeks.

LUMA (Lutheran Urban Ministries of Akron)
LUMA (Lutheran Urban Ministries of Akron) is a group of representatives from three downtown Lutheran churches-- Holy Trinity, Bethany and St. John/St. Paul. Representatives meet monthly to plan cooperative worship and fellowship events among the three churches. Some of the events are supper/worship services during Advent and Lent, a community brunch/ worship service in Grace Park, and Lutherfest (an outdoor Oktoberfest event). Events are always publicized in the bulletins and church news magazines.

Maintenance Coordinator
The Maintenance Coordinator consults with the custodians to see if there are problems with the church facilities. If so, he picks up parts and helps the custodian make repairs. If the job is too large, he calls in contractors for repair work.

Parish Nurses
The Parish Nurse program is comprised of Registered Nurses who use their time and talents to assist members of the congregation in health and wellness issues by conducting blood pressure screening, publishing health related articles in the church newsletter, maintaining a resource library and bulletin board displays, and having durable medical equipment available for use by members and friends.

Adults and senior high youth read scripture lessons at worship services.

Thrivent
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a company that handles insurance and retirement planning. They generously offer matching funds for church activities through their Care in Congregations program, and they also offer funding for outreach through their Care in Community program. The congregational representatives who help groups complete the funding requests are Mark MacGregor, Nan Riemenschneider and Linda Vowles.

Adults gather for Christian fellowship and programs.

Trinity Choir
This adult choir sings a wide variety of music in our 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship services. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m. In addition to leading worship, they also participate in special musical events, often jointly with other church choirs in the community.
Trinity Time Tithers (TTT's)
Trinity Time Tithers gather on Wednesday mornings to volunteer their services where needed in the church. Fellowship continues at lunch.
Trinity's Gardening Angels
A group of men and women who enjoy sharing their knowledge of annuals and perennials and their love of gardening. They plant and maintain the entrance garden, and the flagpole garden in Grace Park in conjunction with the Keep Akron Beautiful program.

Worldwide Ministry Task Force
A group of church members oversees the operation of the church website. In addition to gathering the data required to keep the website information current, the task force analyzes and recommends equipment and procedures to expand the website's audio and video content.

Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry consists of two sections, the 7th-8th Graders (Confirmation age students) and 9th-12th Graders (High School Youth). Confirmation students meet weekly on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 a.m. for Confirmation class. The High School youth also meet weekly at 9:45 a.m. for High School Sunday school class. The Youth also participate in service activities at Holy Trinity such as Interfaith Hospitality Network, St. Bernard’s food kitchen, and gardening around Holy Trinity. Finally, the youth gather for social events such as lock-ins, movies and holiday parties. If you or someone you know may be interested in participating in any of the youth activities at Holy Trinity please do not hesitate to call the church or talk to Pastor Eileen on Sunday mornings.
